Magnetic Vortices

We have made magnetic vortices of Co. The Co nanodots are about 40nm thick and have a diameter between 400 and 600 nm. The magneto optical Kerr effect is used to verify that the dots are in a vortex state. Here is a typical scanning electron microscope (SEM) image of a dot array:
